Caspian plover

The Caspian plover – Charadrius asiaticus is a small/medium sized species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae and Order Charadriiformes. It is a summer breeder in W and Central Asia, and migrates to Eastern and Southern Africa. In the AWB Region it is a winter visitor to SE Egypt, E Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, NW and SE Somalia. Elsewhere in Somalia it is present on passage as well as Arabia, E Turkey and Iran.
