Chukar

The Chukar (Alectoris chukar) is a round medium sized Partridge game bird, that has a preference for dry open rocky hillsides. It ranges across temperate Asia from Turkey to the Far East. In the AWB Region it it is resident in Cyprus, Turkey, the Levant, the South Caucasus N and W Iran down to the Straights of Hormuz, where there is also a small population on the opposite shore in N Oman. Because it is a very attractive bird it has been introduced to many parts of the world.
