Common redstart – Phoenicurus phoenicurus – is a migratory Eurasian redstart of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. It has an extensive summer breeding range over Eurasia and in winter migrates to Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, S Caucasus, Iran, N Iraq and to small isolated areas in N Morocco and N Algeria. In winter it is found in SW Arabia, W Yemen, N Morocco, N Algeria and in the S of the Sahel states of Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan and into Eritrea.
