The Common sandpiper – Actitis hypoleucos is a small Palearctic migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae. It is an extensive summer breeder across Eurasia and winters widely in Africa, SW, S, and SE Asia and further into Australasia. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, South Caucasus, N Iran and NE Iraq. It is a winter visitor to S Iran, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Yemen, the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, the Levant and Central Iraq. In Africa it winters along all the coasts of N Africa from S Mauritania to S Somalia except for E Libya and W Egypt, and across all the sub-saharan regions.
