Desert wheatear – Oenanthe deserti – is a migratory Afro-asiatic wheatear of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. There are two main populations, the Western sub-species which is found across N Africa and NW Arabia and has a complex network of summer breeders, resident, and wintering areas over the region, and the Northern sub-species which is strongly migratory to Central Asia and winters from NW India, across southern Arabia into NE Africa. There is a main wintering area across the N of the Sahel Belt, but the composition of the sub-species involved is unclear.
