The Dunlin – Calidris alpina is a small Holarctic migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae. It is a summer breeder to the High Arctic and migrates as far as the Tropics of the Northern Hemisphere. In the AWB Region it ia a winter visitor to the S end of the Caspian Sea, W and Central Turkey, Cyprus, the Levant, the Central valleys of Iraq, the coasts of the Arabian Peninsular and Iran. In Africa it winters along the coasts of the Atlantic, the Maghreb states, the Red Sea and the Nile Valley. Also in Central Mali, S Niger and S Chad.
