Eurasian Curlew

The Eurasian curlew – Numenius arquata is a large wader of the family Scolopacidae. It has an extensive northern Eurasian breeding range and migrates S to Temperate and Tropical mainly coastal regions of the Old World. In the AWB Region it winters in Cyprus, Coastal & Central Turkey, and all the coastal areas of Arabia and the Arabian Gulf. It also winters along all the coastlines of N Africa from S Mauritania to S Somalia, and a number of inland wintering areas in Central Mali, S Niger, S Chad and SE Sudan.
