Eurasian oystercatcher

The Eurasian oystercatcherHaematopus ostralegus is a large species of Type – Wader of the Family Haematopodidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is a widespread Summer Breeder across Eurasia from Iceland to the Kamchatka Peninsular, and winters along many coastlines near and into the Tropics. In the AWB Region it is a Summer Breeder in Turkey, Armenia and NW Iran, and a winter visitor along all the relevant coastlines of N Africa from S Mauritania to S Somalia. It is also a winter visitor along all the coasts of the Arabian Peninsular and Iran.

Winter Habitat - Estuaries, sheltered coastal areas, forms flocks,
