Eurasian skylark – Alauda arvensis – is the typical ‘skylark’ of Type – Alaudine, Family Alaudidae and Order Passeriformes. It has an extensive range over Eurasia, S to Arabia and N Africa, In the N of its range it is a summer breeder, in the middle of its range it is resident, and in the S it is a winter visitor. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to E Turkey and the S Caucasus, it is resident to central Turkey a belt across N Iran, and the coastal Maghreb states, It is a winter visitor to S coastal Turkey, central Iran, Cyprus, the Levant, Syria, Iraq, the Gulf States and Oman. In the Mediterranean it is a winter visitor to coastal Egypt and Libya, but in the Maghreb states its range moves more inland S of the resident range.
