Eurasian Sparrowhawk – Accipiter nisus – also known traditionally as the sparrowhawk, is a small Raptor of the Family Accipitridae, the Order Accipitriformes and is of Type – diurnal-raptor. It has a huge range right across Eurasia being resident in Western Europe and a summer migrant in N Eurasia. In the AWB Region it is resident in the Maghreb, coastal Turkey, the S Caucasus and S Caspian. Elsewhere it is a winter migrant south to Cyprus, the Fertile Crescent, S Iran, Arabian Gulf and Red Sea coasts of Arabia, and NE Africa.

Habitat Summer: various woodlands, wooded edges, open country with scattered trees, urban parks and gardens
Habitat Nests.: in trees, in North Asia hunts up to the tree-line
Habitat Winter or passage: any habitat
