European golden-plover

The European golden-plover – Pluvialis apricaria or Eurasian golden-plover is a large species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It breeds across the N Palearctic from Iceland to Central Siberia, in the winter it migrates to Temperate W Europe and the fringes of the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. In the AWB Region it winters on the coastal areas of Turkey, Cyprus and Palestine. It also winters in appropriate habitats across the S Mediterranean coasts from the Nile Delta to Morocco and beyond on its Atlantic coasts.

Summer Habitat - Arctic Tundra and adjacent suitable moorland sub- arctic areas, 
Winter Habitat - temperate open W European agricultural lands, coastal margins and mudflats of the Mediterranean           
                            basin, tends to form large flocks,
