The Great black-backed gull – Larus marinus is a large Northern migratory gull of Type – seabird, Family Laridae and Order Charadriiformes. It is a summer breeder to islands of the High Arctic which winter on the coasts of Temperate W Europe, where it is also resident on many of the coasts. Its winter range extends as far S as S Portugal but it is also found in N Morocco.
