Great grey shrike – Lanius excubitor – is one of the larger shrikes of Type – sallyer, Family Laniidae and Order Passeriformes. It is very widespread over Eurasia, the Middle East and N Africa and has a complex distribution, it tends to be migratory and a summer breeder in the N, resident in Temperate Eurasia, N Africa and the S Middle East and winters in the warmer parts of the N Mediterranean basin. So it is likely to be present in the AWB Region in most countries at some time of the year.

Winter Habitat - Varied from W and S Europe to Asia Steppes,
Resident Habitat - Very varied ranging from  Semi-desert and desert to Sahel, coastal plains and wooded mountains,
