The Great skua – Stercorarius skua is a large migratory species of Type – seabird, the Family Stercorariidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It breeds on islands and isolated coasts of the North Atlantic, from Ireland up into the Arctic and winters at sea in the N Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. In the AWB Region it winters off the coasts of W Africa, the Maghreb states, the S coast of Turkey, the Levant, N Sinai, N Egypt and NE Libya, it is absent from SE Tunisia and NW Libya.
