Great spotted woodpecker – Dendrocopos major – is a mid-sized woodpecker of Type – arboreal-forager, Family Picidae and Order Piciformes. It has a very extensive resident range across Temperate Eurasia. In the AWB Region it is found in Turkey, S Caucasus, N Iran and the N Maghreb states.
