Greater flamingo

The Greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is a very large pink coloured, long legged wading bird. It is found extensively across the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Africa. In the AWB Region it is resident in Eritrea, Djibouti, Mauritania, Western Sahara, the Maghreb states Libya and Egypt into the Sinai, with a small population in the UAE. It has a non-breeding range in The Levant and Iraq and along the N shores of the Arabian Gulf into Pakistan, and along the E shores of the Red Sea from Sharm el Sheikh to Aden.
