Greater Spotted Eagle – Clanga clanga – is a large raptor of the Family Accipitridae, Order Accipitriformes and Type – diurnal-raptor. It is a summer migrant to woodland, in a band right across Eurasia from the Baltic countries to the Sea of Japan. It winters further South, from SW Europe, and Macedonia, Turkey, W Iran and across Arabia to SW Yemen, Ethiopia and along the Nile Valley back to the Mediterranean. Two additional wintering areas are across the Northern Oriental Region and eastern China.

Type – diurnal-raptor – nests in trees,
Habitat Summer – Woodlands of all types, from forests to scattered trees,
Habitat Winter – More widely dispersive on passage
