Kittlitz’s plover

The Kittlitz’s plover – Charadrius pecuarius is a small species of Type – Wader of the Family Charadriidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It has two populations, one is resident over most of sub-Saharan Africa except for the Horn of Africa and the Equatorial Forest Regions, but it is also present along the Nile Valley. The second population is a summer breeder to central Asia. In the AWB Region it is resident in E Egypt, E and S Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti. S Chad, S Niger, S Mali and SW Mauritania.

Summer Habitat - coastal and inland saltmarshes, alkaline grasslands, muddy or sandy river banks, 
Winter Habitat - s s Africa as noted above,
