The Little grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis is small diving water bird, and is the smallest member of the Grebe family, It is of Type – waterbird, Family Podicipedidae, and Order Podicipediformes. It has a very extensive range over the whole of Eurasia and Africa, but has a very complicated patchwork of breeding, non-breeding and resident populations, the same applies over the AWB Region where it is present in most countries, and it can frequently be found on isolated stretches of water.

Type - waterbird - nests in small colonies in densely vegetated fresh water margins.
Summer Habitat - open water wetlands with vegetated margins
Winter Habitat - sheltered coasts and bays, more open wetlands, 
Resident Habitat - fresh water lakes,
