The Little ringed plover – Charadrius dubius is a small species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae. and the Order Charadriiformes. It is very widespread over the Euro-Asiatic Region, and is mostly a summer breeder but has an extensive resident population in India and SE Asia. It migrates to the Tropics of SE Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa with a few small wintering grounds in the Middle East. In the AWB Region its main summer breeding range is across Turkey, The South Caucasus and Iran. Elsewhere there are small isolated breeding areas in Cyprus, N Syria, N Saudi Arabia and Jordan. In the Maghreb states there is a similar patchwork of discontinuous breeding areas where conditions are suitable. Similarly there is a patchwork of small wintering areas across Arabia, N Africa and the Maghreb states, The main wintering range is sub-Sahara down to East Africa.

Type - wader - nest on pebbles or stony ground with minimal vegetation, 
Summer Habitat - open gravel areas near freshwater, river banks, islands, gravel pits, 
Winter Habitat - coastal and inland mud banks,
