The Long-tailed cormorant – Microcarbo africanus – or Reed Cormorant, is a small African cormorant of Type – seabird, Family Phalacrocoracidae and Order Suliformes. It is resident and common in freshwater wetlands across s s Africa. In the AWB Region it is present in suitable wetlands from the Sahel Belt southwards.

Type - seabird-  nests in trees or sheltered by long grass on the ground,
Resident Habitat - quiet coastal areas and inland freshwater wetlands,
