The Madagascar pond-heron – Ardeola idae also called the Malagasy pond-heron is a small heron of the wading-bird Family Ardeidae and the Order Pelecaniformes. It breeds on Madagascar and adjacent islands including the Comoros, and outside the breeding season it can also be found in the neighbouring areas of eastern Africa.
