Meadow pipit – Anthus pratensis – is a small migratory/resident Eurasian passerine of Type – insectivore, Family Motacillidae and Order Passeriformes. It is very widespread over Europe and Far W Asia, being migratory in the N and E, resident in W Europe and wintering around the Mediterranean basin and SW Asia. In the AWB Region there is an isolated area in the S Caucasus where it is resident, elsewhere it is a winter visitor to SW Asia, the Levant and Sinai. In N Africa it winters on the coastal areas of countries from Mauritania to Egypt, with occasional isolated areas in the desert.

Summer Habitat - open country from Tundra to farmland
Resident Habitat - pastures and moorland, bogs, rough grassy areas,
Winter Habitat - damp coastal areas,  saltmarshes, occasionally inland,
