The Meropidae – Bee-eaters+ is a Family of mid-sized, slender, long tailed, non-passerine, insectivorous, aerially active birds of Type – sallyer and the Order Coraciiformes. There is only the single sub-family Bee-eaters in the Meropidae Family.

They are typed as ‘Sallyer‘ which means that they sally forth… from a well chosen elevated perch to catch their prey, typically bees or wasps, (for Bee-eaters) and then return back to their perch to wait for the next one to pass bye.
