Ortolan bunting – Emberiza hortulana – is a small migratory Eurasian passerine of Type – granivore, Family Emberizidae and Order Passeriformes. It is a summer breeder from W Europe to Mongolia, and migrates in winter to s s Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, the S Caucasus, N Iran, N Iraq, and to a few small areas in coastal Algeria. It winters in a few small areas in Eritrea, Djibouti and Somaliland.
