The Pharaoh eagle-owl – Bubo ascalaphus is a medium/large species of Type – nocturnal-raptor Family Strigidae and the Order Strigiformes. It has distributed areas where it is resident across Africa north of the Sahel and adjacent Arabia. In the AWB Region as noted above there are resident populations in most AWB Countries except for Turkey, S Caucasus, Iran, Cyprus, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Somalia and Comoros. In Iraq it is only present near the border with Kuwait.
