Pine bunting – Emberiza leucocephalos – is a small migratory/resident Asian passerine of Type – granivore, Family Emberizidae and Order Passeriformes. It is an extensive summer breeder across N Asia from the Urals to the Sea of Okhotsk. To the S of this summer range it becomes a complex of Resident and Wintering areas, but its main wintering areas are in NE China and SW Asia. In the AWB Region Iran falls within its normal wintering range but is dispersed to small areas in the N, NE, and S of the country.
