Pluvianidae – Egyptian-plovers+ Family contains only one species the – Egyptian-plover – it is written like this as one word, to separate it from the true plovers normally contained in the Charadriidae Family. It is found as resident across the Sahel Belt of s s Africa. It is striking and memorable, notably because of its association with crocodiles, and frequently feeds in their open mouths and which gives it the alternative name of Crocodile bird. It is in the Order Charadriiformes and is of Type – wader.
