Red-throated pipit – Anthus cervinus – is a small migratory Eurasian passerine of Type – insectivore, Family Motacillidae and Order Passeriformes. It is a summer breeder to the far N of Eurasia and W Alaska and it migrates in winter to SE Asia and Africa. In the AWB Region it is found on passage and as a wintering area. It can be found wintering in S Turkey, the Levant, Syria, and small areas of Cyprus, Iraq and NW KSA. The main wintering area is s s Africa starting in the S of the Sahel states, but small wintering areas are found in the other N African states to varying degrees, notably the Nile Valley and the W Coast of the Red Sea.
