The Saker falcon – Falco cherrug is a large falcon of Type diurnal-raptor, the Family Falconidae and Order Falconiformes. It is a mostly migratory Old World species, being a summer breeder from Central Europe to Mongolia. It migrates S to SE and S Asia, S Europe, the Middle East and s s N Africa, with areas in between where it is resident. In the AWB Region it has resident populations in Turkey, Iraq and Iran and wintering areas in the S Caucasus, Turkey, the Levant, Syria, Iraq and Iran. Small wintering areas also occur in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, KSA, UAE, N Oman and SW Yemen. In Africa there are also wintering areas in the in the S of the Sahel states.

Type - diurnal raptor - nests in abandoned nests of other species
Resident Habitat - open grasslands, steppes, farmlands, with distributed outcrops or trees,
Winter Habitat - near wetlands, coastal areas,
