Siberian stonechat – Saxicola maurus – is a migratory Asian chat of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. It has a wide N/S range in Central Asia from Siberia to Pakistan, in which it is a summer breeder. It winters in SE Asia, the Indian sub-continent, and in the W from S Turkey across Arabia and NE Africa. There is also an area in SE Turkey and NW Iran where it becomes resident. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to E Turkey and the S Caucasus. As noted above where it is resident, and winters. In particular it winters around the NE African coastal areas from NE Libya to Eritrea and more extensively in E Sudan.
