Slender-billed gull

The Slender-billed gull – Chroicocephalus genei is a medium sized species of Type – seabird of the family Laridae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is found in the S Mediterranean coastal areas, and from Turkey and the Black Sea Area eastwards to Central Kazakhstan. There are two populations a migratory one and a resident one but they are both distributed widely over the total area. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to SW and Central Turkey, Iran to three small areas near Tabriz, Gorgan and Zahedan, and Iraq to the S and Central main Valleys to the head of the Arabian Gulf where it also breeds in Kuwait. There are a few small areas where it is resident in E Central Morocco, bordering with W Central Algeria, E and Central Tunisia, coastal Libya, and the Nile Delta. It winters along the coasts of W Mauritania, the coasts of the Maghreb states, E Mediterranean Sea, and around all the coasts of Arabia and S Iran.

Resident Habitat - mostly onshore coastal areas, also at a few inland wetlands
