Sooty gull

The Sooty gull – Ichthyaetus hemprichii is a medium sized gull of Type – seabird of the family Laridae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is resident and native to coasts of the Red Sea, the Arabian Peninsula, the S coast of Iran and the coasts of E Africa down to S Tanzania. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to offshore islands where it usually nests in small colonies, outside of the breeding season it disperses more generally around the offshore coasts as noted above. It is resident in the UAE, Ras al Hadd area, Mecca coasts area, S Yemen Gulf of Aden coast, Socotra and S Somalia. On the W coast of the Red Sea it is resident from S Egypt to W Somaliland.
