Tawny Owl – Strix aluco – is a medium sized owl species of Type – nocturnal-raptor, in the Family Strigidae, and Order Strigiformes. It is resident across W Eurasia, the Middle East and NW Africa. In the AWB Region it is found in the coastal Maghreb states, the Levant, coastal Turkey, the S Caucasus, Caspian coastal Iran and SW Iran, and a small population in N Iraq.
