Village weaver – Ploceus cucullatus – is a small/medium sized resident African passerine, of Type-granivore, Family Ploceidae and Order Passeriformes. It is found in s s Africa where it prefers open weedy areas or farmland. In the AWB Region it is resident in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia.
