Western black-eared wheatear – Oenanthe hispanica – is a small migratory Eurasian wheatear of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. (NOTE this is newly raised to species status and not all authorities have yet been updated, so there remains some ambiguity between references.) It is a summer breeder to S France, Iberia and NW Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to NW Libya and the N Sahel states where the Eastern black-eared wheatear is also found, in winter they migrate to the Sahel Belt.
