White-crested bittern – Tigriornis leucolopha also called White-crested Tiger-heron is a resident African bittern. It belongs to the Family Ardeidae, the Order Pelecaniformes, and is native to s s Africa but is found as Accidental in the sahel of Mauritania. Outside of the AWB Region it is found in W and Central Africa. It is a secretive and solitary feeder often partially hidden in the dense mangroves and lowland forests which are its typical habitat.
