White wagtail – Motacilla alba – is a small migratory/resident Eurasian passerine of Type – insectivore, Family Motacillidae and Order Passeriformes. It is found very extensively over Eurasia as a summer breeder, in the W and E extremities of its range it becomes resident, and in winter it migrates S, to areas from W Africa Arabia, SW Asia to the Philippines. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to N Morocco, E Turkey, S Caucasus, and N Iran. It is resident in the Levant, Turkey S Caucasus, NW and Central Iran and N Morocco. Elsewhere apart from the Comoros and Socotra it is found to a varying extent as a winter visitor.
