Yellowhammer – Emberiza citrinella – is a small migratory/resident Eurasian passerine of Type – granivore, Family Emberizidae and Order Passeriformes. It has a large range across N Eurasia, from W Europe to Lake Baikal, it is migratory in the N but is mostly resident in the centre, and in winter it migrates S to the N rim of the Mediterranean basin and to SW Asia. In the AWB Region it is a winter visitor to Turkey, Iran, the Levant and parts of the S Caucasus, where it also becomes selectively resident. It has been greatly affected by changes to agricultural practices.
