Black crake – Zapornia flavirostra – is a mid-sized resident African crake of Type – marshfowl, Family Rallidae and Order Gruiformes. It is widely distributed over fresh water marshes in s s Africa. In the AWB Region it is found as resident in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan and S Somalia.
