Black grouse – Lyrurus tetrix – is a large resident Eurasian gamebird of Type – Landfowl, Family Phasianidae and Order Galliformes. It is very widespread over the Palearctic Region in the N moorland and Taiga forest areas from W Europe to E Asia. The AWB Region lies outside of its normal main range, but it does maintain a small isolated near threatened population in the Caucasus Mountains.
