Eurasian linnet – Linaria cannabina – or Common linnet is a small migratory/resident Eurasian passerine of Type – granivore, Family Fringillidae and Order Passeriformes. It is a summer breeder from NW Europe to Central Asia. It becomes resident over most of Europe into SW Asia, NW Africa, and the wintering areas lie just to the S of these areas. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to E Turkey, and becomes resident elsewhere in Turkey, and in S Caucasus, N Iran, Cyprus, and the N Coastal areas of the Maghreb states and Libya. Its largest wintering area is over most of Iran and to a lesser extent in S Levant, Sinai, N Egypt and smaller areas just to the S of resident areas of Mediterranean African N coastal areas.
