Green-winged pytilia – Pytilia melba – is a small resident finch-like African passerine of Type – granivore, Family Estrildidae and Order Passeriformes. It is widely found over s s Africa. In the AWB Region it is found coast to coast across the Sahel Belt and includes Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia.

Type - granivore - feeds on the ground, flocks outside of the breeding season,
Typical Habitat - open dry woodland, thorny savanna also farmland,
