Black-headed lapwing – Vanellus tectus – is a large resident African lapwing of Type – wader, Family Charadriidae and Order Charadriiformes. It is found in s s Africa and is widely resident in the Sahel states and E Africa. In the AWB Region it is resident in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia.
