Corn bunting – Emberiza calandra – is a small resident/migratory Eurasian passerine of Type – granivore, Family Emberizidae and Order Passeriformes. It has dispersed resident populations from W Europe to Kazakhstan but with a few significant additional wintering areas. In the AWB Region it is resident in the N coastal Maghreb states, Cyprus and a small area in the S Caucasus. The main wintering areas are around the coasts of the Arabian Gulf and the coastal areas of Oman, the S Levant into N Egypt, and intermittently along the coastline of Libya and into SE Tunisia. It has been greatly affected by changing agricultural practices.
