Hamerkop – Scopus umbretta – is a resident medium sized Afro/Arabian species of Type – wading-bird, Family Scopidae and Order Pelecaniformes. It is widely distributed over s s Africa and into SW Arabia. In the AWB Region it is found as resident coast tp coast across the Sahel Belt, plus Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, SW KSA and W Yemen.
