Rook – Corvus frugilegus – is a large resident/migratory Eurasian passerine of Type – ground-forager, Family Corvidae and Order Passeriformes. It is widely distributed over Temperate Eurasia, in Europe and W Asia, it is largely resident and a winter visitor. In central and E Asia it is migratory in the N and S and resident in the mid-latitudes. In the AWB Region it is resident and winter visitor in Turkey, S Caucasus and Iran, and is a winter visitor to Iraq, Syria, S Levant, Sinai and NE Egypt.

Type - ground-forager - nests gregariously in flocks based on a group of large trees, called rookeries,
Typical Habitat - open agricultural land with suitable copses of large trees for breeding and roosting,
