White-faced whistling-duck – Dendrocygna viduata – is a noticeable resident African/South American duck+ of Type – waterbird, Family Anatidae and Order Anseriformes. It is very widespread in s s Africa and Madagascar. In the AWB Region it is found as resident across all the Sahel states and into the Horn of Africa, namely Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia and is recorded as Accidental in Comoros. It has a striking black and white face and has an upright stance more like a goose.
