Wire-tailed swallow – Hirundo smithii – is a small Afro-Asian swallow of Type – aerialist, Family Hirundinidae and Order Passeriformes. It is resident in s s Africa, and peninsular India where it becomes migratory in Pakistan to Turkmenistan. The AWB Region is outside of its normal range but it is recorded as Accidental in Iran, Oman and UAE. In s s Africa it is resident in Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia.

Type - aerialist - nesting under eaves of buildings, bridges and other manmade structures
Typical Habitat - open lands near water, from scrublands to grasslands and cultivated fields,
