African sacred ibis – Threskiornis aethiopicus – is mid/large sized resident Afro/Arabian species of Type – wadingbird, Family Threskiornithidae and Order Passeriformes. It is found widely over s s Africa except for densely forested areas, and also there is a small isolated population in SE Iraq. In the AWB Region it is found as resident across the Sahel Belt states, plus Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and SE Iraq.

Typical Habitat - large shallow marshy wetlands and mudflats,
